There is much to see and do while visiting Freeport. From beach lounging to scuba diving to shopping the whole family will find something fun to do. For the quintessential Bahamian beach day check out the tourist favorite, Lucaya Beach. Here you can partake in water sports like parasailing, jet skiing, snorkeling, boogie boarding, surfing, and of course sun bathing. For a little more private beach-going excursion you should make plans to visit Barbary Beach. From this beach you can also take a kayak trip to the exotic Peterson’s Cay National Park. Shallow bars and coral reefs make for excellent snorkeling and scuba diving where you can observe schools of tropical fish, elkhorn and soft corals, and an occasional barracuda.
The shopping here is quite unique and varied. There are two main shopping areas, the International Bazaar and Port Lucaya Marketplace. At the former you can shop in each internationally themed section arranged like a European village, while at the latter you can buy from local artisans and international designer labels in over 80 stores.
