- Desert View Campground is 26 miles east of Grand Canyon Village. It is open mid-May through mid-October and operates on a first-come, first-served basis only. It is located at the east end of the park overlooking the confluence of the Little Colorado and Colorado Rivers. The campground is within easy walking distance of Desert View Visitor Center and store. And it's just a half mile from the spectacular Desert View overlook. A short drive away is a partially restored prehistoric archeological site (Tusayan Ruin) complete with its own museum and informational displays. There are no hookups.
