  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Make time for a stop here, if only to check out the giant topographic relief model in the front room that provides an eye-opening, three-dimensional interpretation of the Grand Canyon.

  • Description:

    • The Yavapai Geology Museum is housed inside the historic Yavapai Observation Station, first dedicated in July 1928 and designed by Herbert C. Maier. The museum is located one mile east of Market Plaza and features expansive views of the canyon. A perfect spot for taking a break between hikes and learning more about the geological history of the canyon. Explore three-dimensional models of the canyon, incredible photography, and interpretive exhibits that explain the complex geologic story of your surroundings. There is also a bookstore, and several ranger programs begin here. Open daily from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
