Stop, see, and walk

Description:

If you're in a hurry but want a chance to see the Grand Canyon for a day, here's a route that will give you the fullest view possible in a short period of time. The day-hike is there-and-back, so it's as long as you want to make it and I recommend making it to Indian Gardens if you can. On that note, I do not recommend going all the way to the Colorado and back in one day. Even if you're fit and can do it, you won't quite know until you've done it and you'll miss out on extended gazes and a long, shady lunch. Last tip: try to plan this trip on a weekday so the trail isn't too crowded.

Day 1 - Grand Canyon National Park

In a day, you'll get the fill flavor of the Grand Canyon. It's hard to believe that you can see and fell so much of the Canyon in just a few miles, but thanks to the park service's dedication to trail-work, Bright Angel trail offers more than you could imagine. Take the trail as far as you are comfortable, but remember how steep the walk back will be. I recommend having a particular turn-around time in mind if you're planning on going far. Have fun, wear good shoes, and be careful leaning too far over the edge!
