The Best of NileGuide
- If you want to eat like a local, head to the historic center or the pizzeria platform, as they affectionately call the Isère's right bank. Restaurants pack in here, serving traditional French and Italian cuisine. Grenoble also has its fair share of world restaurants. Asian and African restaurants line the streets of the Chorier-Berriat neighborhood and savory Middle Eastern eateries dot the city. You will even find a Canadian and an authentic American restaurant in Grenoble. Cheap eats include kebabs, pasta-to-go, and sandwiches prepared earlier that morning. For hearty mountain fare, look for fondue, raclette, and tartiflette. Grenoble's star dish, however, is gratin dauphinois--a deceptively simple potato-and-cream gratin that accompanies many a Grenoblois meal. Bon appétit!
