After enjoying a day of relaxation on the beaches, or if you're thoroughly wiped out after indulging in the many water-themed activities that visitors tend to indulge in—parasailing and snorkeling the most popular among them—you'll be pleased to find that the nightlife in Agana and the rest of Guam rivals that of top tourist destinations around the world. For some downtime at a beach bar or Las-Vegas style entertainment, look no farther than the array of options presented to you in the heart of Tumon.
Underneath famous Philippine Sea sunsets, open air dining and live entertainment practically line the coast of Tumon Bay, a short ride away from the capital of Agana. Sails Restaurant and Santa Fe on the Bay Hotel both offer an open-air bar and restaurant with live entertainment on most weekends during high season. Jimmy Dee's is an alternative option for nighttime parties sponsored by radio stations, with the occasional live island-style performance as a highlight.
Neighborhood bars with $2 happy hour drinks, though not as abundant as they once were when U.S. military presence was at a high point during the 1990s, still dot the capital and surrounding villages. These low-key venues are great places to listen to classic rock 'n' roll beats bouncing from old-school jukeboxes. You'll typically be met with an array of friendly ex-pats looking to round up a decent game of darts, pool or shuffleboard. Some of the standard options include American Legion, which is the oldest of its kind outside of the United States, established in 1930 and offering up some of the best-priced drinks on the island and certainly the most economical breakfast.
For something a bit more upscale, the name that is catching everyone's attention lately is the Sand Castle and Globe, located within the Sandcastle Complex in Tumon. Akin to a Las Vegas-style nightclub and disco, the Sand Castle features a cast of nearly 30 live entertainers and world-class magician acts complete with live tigers. This five-outlet entertainment center features a private party room, pool room, dance club, outdoor terrace and a VIP bar. For an all-night party where the music, lights and crowds take control, this is Guam's nightlife at its best.
