- There are many places to eat BBQ at night in Guilin, but this street is my favourite due to its proximity to Shida (Guangxi Normal University, as opposed to the paranormal or abnormal??). Also there seem to be less foreigners there. Come to think of it, the only foreigners I ever saw there were the ones I invited with me. While you are there you may as well also try some Naicha (literally milk tea, also called bubble tea in some countries), which is a delicious drink with little balls of sesame powder (or something) at the bottom that you have to suck up with your straw and chew on. When you order the various sticks of different meats and cake-like things don't forget to ask for the price of each before you start eating. Also, try the squid tenticles. They taste great. I would try to tell you to avoid certain meats but unless you speak Chinese there is no easy way to avoiding them (unless you are a professional chef or something). The good thing is that you'll be trying so many different things that only one or two pieces will end up being unfavourable. Manchi! (Equivalent to "Bon appetit" in Chinese, kind of) = Take your time whilst eating.
