Qianling Gongyuan

Description:

• Located on the slopes of 1,395m-high (4,576-ft.) Qianling Shan in the northwest part of town, this lushly forested park offers a pleasant reprieve from the urban jungle. A hike up the steep winding path to the 17th-century temple Hongfu Si (¥1/15¢/10p; open 8am-6pm) will give you a good workout and a bird's-eye view of the city. A cable car (¥12 ($1.55/80p) up; ¥8/$1/50p down) also makes the trip. Avoid the zoo at all costs.
