The Best of NileGuide
- Halifax has a lively nighttime atmosphere, especially during the summer months. The waterfront, with its views of the water and wide array of restaurants and pubs within walking distance of each other, is the place to spend an evening in Halifax. There is a great music scene in Halifax – you can check out all sorts of music genres, from jazz tunes to Celtic songs, at many pubs, taverns, and other music venues in the area. Your Father’s Moustache, a tavern downtown, is a great place to listen to music and dance most nights of the week, especially Saturdays. Bigger acts perform at the Halifax Metro Centre downtown, and the Symphony Nova Scotia and the Atlanta Jazz Festival are also worth checking out. Also downtown, the Neptune Theatre offers a variety of plays and musicals, especially during the summertime. The annual summer festival, Shakespeare by the Sea, offers a number of plays which are all performed outdoors in Point Pleasant Park. As the home of several universities Halifax has a large student population and a youthful vibe. There are many bars and nightclubs for younger crowds, as well.
