The Best of NileGuide
- A city with a proud maritime history, Halifax’s must-see attractions are mostly within walking distance of each other on the waterfront. While spending time on the waterfront, you can enjoy many of Halifax’s shops, restaurants, historic buildings. A great way to experience the city is to take a tour, and there are a variety of boat tours available. Take a guided tour on the amphibious Harbour Hopper, go whale watching, spend an evening on a dinner cruise, or rent a canoe. For those interested in Halifax’s history, visit the Halifax Citadel, an old fort and museum that overlook the city, The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, located downtown on the waterfront, Pier 21, the Old Burial Grounds, or the Province House. Head to the Public Gardens, Point Pleasant Park, or the York Redoubt for beautiful views of the harbour and a nice stroll. The Spring Garden Road Memorial Public Library is another family-friendly, pleasant place to sit and relax. Great shopping areas include Barrington Street, Spring Garden Road, Quinpool Road, and the Farmer’s Market on Lower Water Street.
