Description:
When the Titanic went down April 15, 1912, nearly 2,000 people died. Ship captains from Halifax were recruited to help retrieve the corpses (you can learn about this grim mission at the Maritime Museum). Some 121 victims, mostly ship crewmembers, were buried at this quiet cemetery located a short drive north of downtown Halifax. Some of the simple graves have names, others just numbers. Signs highlight some of the stories that survived the tragedy. A brochure with driving directions to this and two other Titanic cemeteries may be found at the Maritime Museum and visitor information centers. It's definitely worth an hour or more for Titanic fans; others might just spend a few minutes here. Without a car, skip it.
