Hanseatic Hotel

Description:

  • This hotel, on the banks of the Alster River, close to the Winterhude Market, is the smallest and most delightful place to stay in Hamburg. In summer, a little flower garden blooms in the front. The town house, painted a soothing white, was built around 1930. The interior evokes an English gentlemen's club, complete with prints of horses, chintz upholstery, and leather-bound books. Rooms, ranging from small to medium, are furnished in a one-of-a-kind manner, containing many antiques. All units are equipped with tidily kept bathrooms containing tub/shower combinations. Breakfast is the only meal served, but there's a bistro next door and other restaurants in the vicinity.
