• Type: Offbeat Nightlife
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Drop in, be friendly and share the aloha.

  • Description:

    • Come down to Uncle Robert's Awa Bar in Kalapana where the road ends and Aloha begins. Located at the start of the Kalapana lava flow, this is where a wide array of locals, and visitors too, gather to embrace the Hawaiian culture, enjoy beer and awa (a Polynesian root), listen to music and socialize.

They also serve food, and have started a farmer's market on Wednesday afternoons selling locally made food and crafts. The local style of the venue is evident in the fact that business hours can vary depending on the amount of visitors.

Head to the bottom of Kalapana Highway outside of Pahoa and veer to the right.
