Mi's Italian Bistro - Big Island (Hawaii)

  • Description:

    • Perhaps one of best surprises in South Kona is located on the mauka (mountain) side of Hawaii Belt Road. Among the cafes and coffee farms of Kealakekua is this small gem of an Italian restaurant. A family business, Chef Morgan Starr hails from Oregon, and his wife Ingrid Chan was raised in Malaysia. The menu is ambitious with selections like Duck Confit alla Putanesca and the must have local red veal Parmesan Picatta. There is even a baked polenta and fresh lasagna. It's the perfect spot to stop off for dinner on the way back to Kona from the volcano, or just a special spot for a romantic dinner. -Lottie Tagupa
