- Our philosophy is smile in, smile out. We want people to feel welcome with our gracious local-style hospitality and enjoy our great food at a great price in this beautiful location. We hope this will be a stopping point for residents while traveling along the coast or after visiting a nearby beach.
Named after a non-native, mysterious plant found in Hawaii, Monstera offers a wide selection of moderately priced food, sizzling platters and drinks in a casual, yet hip, atmosphere. Here, guests can sit in crocodile print booths under soft lighting and listen to familiar tunes or dine alfresco.
Monstera is owned and operated by Waikoloa residents Norio Yamamoto and Wes Monty. Chef Yamamoto is a master sushi chef who trained in Tokyo. He has more than two decades of experience with discriminating employers such as the Ritz-Carlton, Mandarin Oriental and The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii. He began cooking at the age of 16 and gets a thrill of making people happy with "little touches that wow with each bite."
