Pohoiki Warm Pond

Address:

Highway 137
96778 Big Island (Hawaii),

NileGuide Expert tip:

Low tide is the warmest.

Description:

As Pele remains active in Puna with her constant flowing lava, warm swimming areas continue to do the area. At Pohoiki beach, a local hangout, surf break, boat pier, and swimming area, a small warm pond perfect for swimming is hidden just yards inside the jungle.

When you get to the bottom of Highway 130, take a left on Highway 137. Pass the playground on your left and park just after it on the right. Through the tree along the cement path is the pond in full view of the surf break.

The pond's temperature changes with the tide so when it's a higher tide the water will be cooler and warmest at it's lowest.
