The Hawaii Waterfalls and Hamakua Coast Tour

Description:

  • A trip to the Big Island is not complete without a visit to the amazing waterfalls. Be seduced by the Rainbow Falls whose 89 foot (27 meter) high cascade hides an intriguing sacred cave. Or admire the spectacular Akaka Falls near the Hamakua Coast which drops 442 feet (135 meter) down a fern-draped cliff. With stunning views and amazing natural wonders, this Big Island tour will leave everyone in awe!

Your day will begin in Hilo at the beautiful Japanese Gardens named after Queen Lili'uokalani. Here you can enjoy a stunning view of Mauna Kea, one of the worlds tallest mountains and an inactive volcano. The most recent eruption of Mauna Kea was about 3,500 years ago. You'll see a gorgeous view of the Hamakua Coast and if you visit during the winter months, it is not uncommon to see humpback whales in the bay.

Your next stop is the fabulous Rainbow Falls whose 89 foot (27 meter) high cascade hides a sacred cave. Just above Rainbow Falls, you can explore a beautiful banyan tree that always leaves her guests stunned and a lagoon that has become a very popular attraction.

Experience the locals in surfing action at Honoli'i Beach and a drive through a tropical setting that boasts historic bridges, waterfalls and excellent scenery. Then travel through the famous 4 mile (6.5km) scenic route where you'll be amazed at the variety of Hawaii's exotic plants and flowers. And then visit the beautiful 442 foot (135 meter) Akaka Falls.

At the discretion of our guest, the tour can make a complimentary stop at the famous Hilo Hatties, where you can get all your Aloha attire and more. Finish the day by spotting local sea turtles as they feed and swim only a few feet from the shore.
