Whittington Beach Park - Big Island (Hawaii)

  • Description:

    • Whittington Beach Park lies on the southern coast of the Big Island in Honuapo Bay. It doesn't offer an array of activities, but it is a great place for secluded camping. The beach consists of mainly rocks and very little sand. Water conditions are usually rough and water activities should not be attempted here. Fishing for a variety of fish species is usually good at this park.

The facilities at this site include three covered pavilions with picnic tables, electric lights and cooking and cleaning areas. The camping area is secluded and away from the highway. Large trees of several types provide shaded and partially shaded camp sites. The county maintains restrooms at this park, but no drinking water is available.

Follow Highway 19 southward past Na'alehu. Shortly after passing through this small community is a small sign along the highway for Whittington Beach Park. An unusually turning maneuver at the sign will put you on a dirt road.
