Description:

  • This historic service is actually comprised of two unique trains: the lower railway is the most modern of its type in Germany and has been in service since 1890 on a course of 489 meters, from the Kornmarkt via the Schloss station to the Molenkur station. From here you can change trains, boarding the upper Bergbahn, the oldest electrically-powered train of this type in Germany. The cars of this train (dating back to the year 1907) bring the visitors to the 568 meter high Koenigstuhl. The old Bergbahn station powers a thick cable, whereby the climb (an elevation difference of 261 meters) is accomplished, slowly but surely. Those interested in the technical aspects should look in the machine room at the Koenigstuhl station.
