- With 39 museums, galleries, concert halls, clubs and castles open to the public from 7pm to 2am on April 9, 2011, anyone visiting Heidelberg will not need any convincing when it comes to joining in with the hundreds of visitors and residents enjoying this vibrant night of culture. Every year the cities of Heidelberg, Mannheim and Ludwigshafen come together to promote their cultural establishments by providing guests the opportunity to pay a one time fee (this year 16 euros if bought the night of the event, 14 euros if purchased before from ticketonline.de, though children under 6 are free) and experience all that the cities have to offer. With special concerts, free food and drinks, as well as many other perks, we definitely recommend checking out the Long Night of the Museums if you are lucky enough to be in the area that weekend. Further details can be found in English from the local tourist offices.
