• As a complete snob it pains me to endorse this Saigon perennial, but this is one of the crucibles of the city's after-dark action so it would be churlish to ignore it.  In fact it's not actually as appalling as all that these days and can actually be quite fun if you fancy a bit of a drunken boogie and some surreptitious people-watching. The formula here is simple. To get an idea of how it works, think of a pretty average mainstream club in your own city or town then transpose it to a large Asian city.  Substitute the regulars at the aforementioned local nightspot for a hodgepodge of backpackers, English teachers, locals, hookers and dirty old men and, hey presto, you've got Apo. As I mentioned, it's really not that bad if you don't expect that much.  Staff are friendly, drink prices aren't too criminal and the occasional decent tune usually finds its way in amongst all the chart dreck.
