We're not going to lie. When it comes to live music Saigon, and indeed Vietnam as a whole, is the runt of the litter compared to near-neighbors such as Thailand, Indonesia and The Philippines. Nevertheless, there are beacons of light amidst a sea of terrible hotel bands and karaoke superstars and this venue is one of them. The name itself is a misnomer so don't go along expecting to find a succession of earnest young men and women waxing lyrical to the hushed strumming of their own guitars. Indeed, things can get very rowdy here. The regular set-up is almost revue style with a capable house band backing up local and foreign singers on a selection of familiar western classics. Some of the performers are screamingly terrible and native-English speakers will likely find lots of comedy value in some of the more garbled attempts at pronunciation. On the whole, however, the standard is pretty high even if the selection of material errs towards being run of the mill.
