By all rights this upmarket wine bar should be one of Saigon's premier watering holes. Reachable by an elevator from street level, it promotes a feeling of exclusivity from an early stage. The bar itself is suitably opulent, with hostesses in cocktail dresses, dark upholstery and smart and comfortable sofas enhancing the James Bond feel of the place. Unfortunately, it's a bar prone to a few missteps. The music policy is hit and miss with a pre-eminent theme of banging house tempered by periodic flirtations with cheesy easy listening hits such as Spanish Eyes. Diversions such as chicken wing eating contests don't exactly do much for the venue's louche credibility either. Nevertheless, saving graces such as a fine selection of wines and some exemplary cocktails make this a place that remains well worth checking out.
