Description:
Saigon may be a party city, but cerebral types can have a tough task tracking down much in the way of Bohemia. This hipster hangout, however, offers rare respite from predominant ethos of dumb fun. Cozy and intimate, it's a fun space to hunker down in. Especially impressive is a mezzanine area, which is accessed via a handrail-less spiral staircase that would send your average health and safety inspector into a traumatized swoon. Watching drunken pratfalls on the stair of death aside, much of the entertainment here comes from the nightly live music on show. While some of the cover bands are merely so-so, this is the place of congregation for Saigon's tiny handful of questing musicians, which makes for some decent sets and jam sessions. Throw reasonably priced drinks and comfortable sofas into the mix and you've got a recipe for a cool, unpretentious, bar – a simple, but rare, concept in this town.
