Description:

  • Chao Thai is two floors of an elegant, roomy Thai longhouse, with wide-plank wood floors, black-and-white photos of Thai temples, and some small statuary. The restaurant is famous for its fiery papaya salad, fried catfish with basil leaves, and prawn cakes with plum sauce. The flavors are subtle and not overdone; you won't leave feeling drugged on spices or too much chili. It's a popular lunch spot, but the atmosphere is most warm and welcoming in the candlelit evening. The service is gracious and efficient.
