Description:

  • Com Chay means "vegetarian rice," and this restaurant that was once located in District 1 is an old favorite among locals. You can find just about every imaginable Vietnamese rice, noodle, wrap, and sandwich made vegetarian-style, substituting meat with a variety of tasty vegetable imitations right down to the texture and even the pseudo-fish sauce. You can try the rice dish Thap Cam which means "mix" or the tasty Bun Hue, a hearty thick-noodle soup from Central Vietnam. This place is especially crowded during lunar calendar days such as beginning, middle, and end of the lunar year, but the turnover is frequent and there is plenty of additional seating upstairs. - Kevin Minh
