    • The glaciers of the Southern Alps grind rock down to a fine powder, and this rock powder in turn creates fantastic effects in the lakes, rivers, and streams flowing out of the mountains. Just 33km from the coastal town of Hokitika, you'll find the entrance to the trail. The short path winds through gorgeous temperate rainforest in every shade of green, and then, suddenly, you round and bend and reach a hanging bridge spanning the most turquoise water you'll ever see. It's a photographer's dream, and a truly special place! To get to the gorge you follow the signposts from Hokitika through Kaniere township and out through the Kokatahi and Kowhitirangi farming areas.
