Description:
This refined bar is so popular with Hong Kong's professional crowd that most locals know Captain's Bar as a networking den especially at the end of the working day, that the Mandarin Oriental's recent overhaul left it virtually unchanged (to have done otherwise would have unleashed a torrent of protest from the bar's fiercely loyal fans). Captains Bar is often packed with lively, cashed up hipsters who have turned the Mandarin Oriental into a home away from home. There is a combination of earthiness with quality: dark woods, leather booths and small L-shaped bar.
Well known for its expertly made martinis and its pints of beer served in aluminum and silver tankards, it's a small, intimate place, with seating at the bar or on couches and light jazz Monday to Saturday from 9pm. Open Monday through Saturday from 11am to 2am and Sunday 11am to 1am.
