  • Don't let the name fool you into thinking that the New Territories is "new", the New Territories restaurants are way worth the time and effort to visit. the Best New Territories restaurants in Hong Kong are clustered around Sai Kung, Stanley Market, Shatin, Tsuen Wan and of course the rather offbeat Sham Tseng.

If you get the chance to visit Sai Kung ferry pier then there are live seafood restaurants along the pier but the gem of Sai Kung is Honeymoon Dessert. The original Honeymoon Dessert not only serves a myriad of sweet soups, but all are exquisitely presented and the sago sweet soups as well as the Mango and pomelo desserts and banana pancakes are well worth the wait.

Steamer's Bar and restaurant has got a classic English pub feel to it and lots of British expats living around the New Territories area will drive all the way to Steamer's for the watering hole.

Stanley Main Street restaurants such as the Boathouse, Smugglers Inn, Mijas Spanish Restaurant, King Ludwig and Wildfire are the best points of interest to sit down and have a pint without having to keep track of time. If you want to park your tired market legs you have better get to the Boathouse or Smuggler's Inn early as these two waterfront establishments do fill up on Saturday and Sundays quick.

Sham Tseng is to the west of Ting Kau and east of Tsing Long Tau and the Yue Kee at Sham Tseng is synonymous with Roast Goose. The Skin is so flavorsome and the meat is tender juicy and fresh and the goose is carved into small slices rather than hacked like the ones you see elsewhere.

I-Thai is probably one of the most authentic Thai restaurants you'll find out in the New Territories but New Town Plaza in Shatin has got over 50 restaurants so even if you don't like I-Thai then there are 49 other restaurants to choose from.

Chicken and Pizza in Tsuen Wan is pizza and fried chicken done the way Hong Kong locals like it, its cheap fast food but the pizza slice with a piece of fried chicken on the side is aways the best greasy combo.
