Tequila Jack's

Tequila Jack's - Hong Kong
  • Cuisines: Mexican
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Expect to see a lot of tourists.

  • Description:

    • The crowd: In the short time it's been open, Tequila Jack's (or TJ's as the regulars call it), has already amassed a dedicated following, made up largely of after-work middle-class office people and a fervently loyal troop of boozers from around the Knutsford Terrace neighbourhood.

The décor: Red colours and bright lighting, old movie posters and Inca carvings on the walls. Get there early enough and you may even be able to grab one of the few alfresco tables.

The drinks: Here's where TJ's really shines. Beers include a broad range of hard-to-find Mexican varieties - Bohemia, Carta Blanca and Tecate to name a few. There's also a tempting range of margaritas available. As for cocktails, you're going to want to try the Cancun Cooler, perfect for those hot summer days. The Mexican Mule and Tejuno Tea are also among the house favorites.

The food: Tex-Mex, of course. Everything from nachos and chalupas to tasty soft-shell tacos and chimichangas. There's also an interesting selection of Viva burgers.

The music: No, there's no three-piece mariachi band, but you can't have everything. Pop hits hum unobtrusively in the background.
