• What to do when all the level ground is built on? Either reclaim land, something that Hong Kong excels at, or simply start creating marvels of civil engineering, something else Hong Kong is pretty good at, too. The latter efforts has seen the creation of the Mid-levels, which is sandwiched between Central and Victoria Peak. And what prevents these 40, 50 and even 60 floor Mid-levels tower blocks from simply sliding down the hillside? The answer: enormously long piling pins that, no doubt, took months of effort to drive into place, pinning buildings down for good.
