A Day in Sintra

Put on good shoes, you'll be walking all day. Wake up early to catch one of the first trains from Lisbon's Rossio Station to Sintra in order to make the best of your time. Put on good shoes, you'll be walking all day. Wake up early to catch one of the first trains from Lisbon's Rossio Station to Sintra in order to make the best of your time. The Posto de Turismo da Estacao can give you town maps and other information to help you plan you day. Continue into town passing the Fonte Mourisca, it's one of several fountains all over town. Spend the day at the Palacio Nacional da Ajuda, the Palacio da Pena, the Castelo dos Mouros, and the surrounding gardens. There are local buses to move you about town, but the romantic horse and carriage rides make you feel royal. While the day will be very active, you'll relax beyond Lisbon. If you think this is too much in one day, spend the night at the Tivoli Sintra Hotel, or really get into the flavor of the trip and stay at the Hotel de Seteais. This way you can visit the Palacio Nacional and the town on the first day, and the Palacio de la Pena and the Castelo dos Mouros on the second.  hide
