Whether the purpose of your vacation is business or pleasure, there are plenty of hotels to choose from in Honolulu, both in style and in price range. Not surprisingly, prices tend to increase as you get closer to the beach.
Given the extremes that prices in Hawaii can reach, budget travelers will be pleasantly surprised to find how many cheaper options are available. Within a short distance from Waikiki, there are a number of excellent accommodations that are quite a bit cheaper from the luxury establishments near the beach. Amenities are inconsistent and decor may be a bit sparse in some, but they're still the perfect spot for travelers who are just looking for an inexpensive place to sleep and keep their things while out exploring Oahu. An excellent choice is the Holiday Inn Waikiki. People depend on this chain for its reasonable rates, comfortable accommodations and across-the-board appeal.
And you can always head to one of the more expensive hotels to take advantage of their outdoor bars and to arrange for daily activities out on the water. For these and more, Waikiki Beach Marriott hits the spot. Closer to the convention center and business-centric parts of town, there are more high-rise hotels that are up-to-date and polished. Priced higher than the cheapest options but still within a reasonable price range for those with smaller budgets, these are good places for business travel or for a comfortable stay just outside the Waikiki area. Ilikai Waikiki is always a favorite here. With a great tradition of Aloha, this place offers visitors a home away from home on the edge of famous Waikiki.
More expensive still are resorts right along the prime stretches of Waikiki sand. There are several sprawling resorts to choose from, as well as many high-rise hotels. A little extra research and/or money can get you a lovely view of the ocean or Diamond Head, and most of the hotels in this price range have higher quality restaurants with outdoor seating that make for the perfect place to enjoy a tropical cocktail and some Hawaiian barbecue as the sun sets in Honolulu.
