NileGuide Expert tip:
The breaded tofu is a must try (even if you think you don't like tofu) as well as the ahi and avocado tartar. If you park across the street, don't forget to pay or you will get towed.
- A live fish in a T.V. set, a fishing net full of dollar bills, and a bathroom covered in pictures of tattooed people may give you an idea of the relaxed atmosphere of Irifune Restaurant. The place is a local hidden treasure with a home style decor decorated with photos of the owner and staff with celebrities and some family photos.
Simply put, the food is awesome! Irifune serves Japanese food like curries, katsu, and miso soup, but doesn't serve up sushi except for sashimi as a special. All of the food is exceptional- if you like Japanese food. It's bring your own beer, wine, or sake, and they will provide you with glasses free of a cork fee.
Birthdays at Irifune result in the lights being turned off, and everyone in there invited to join in singing the birthday song. If you have a birthday in your party, let the staff know on the sly and they will surprise the birthday girl or boy.
It's generally pretty busy on any given night, but hanging out in the waiting area is definitely worth the wait.
