The deep sound of the drums is offset by the tinkling staccato of the finger cymbals that the belly dancers skillfully use to punctuate the sway of their hips. Despite the throngs of enthusiastic, mostly male crowd on Thursday nights, Byzantio's low-slung couches, deep-seated chairs and stone mosaic bar in the converted bungalow provide an excellent space for conversation or a game of backgammon.
