Landmark River Oaks Theatre

• The River Oaks Theatre is a three screen movie theatre built in 1939. The theater lies in the middle of the posh River Oaks community in inner city Houston and has somehow managed to keep its art deco charm. From kung-fu classics to Stanley Kubrick's Oscar winners with the occasional live Rocky Horror Picture Show night, this is a great place to find all kinds of cult classics. In 2006 it was rumored that the theater would be bulldozed and replaced with a shopping center. Luckily for us, the public outcry following the rumors has helped keep this beautiful theater open.
