• Roots gets points for its casual-chic terrace setting and creative menu, which is unique in a region of cookie cutter menus. However, as beautiful as the food and surroundings may be, this brand new dining room sometimes pushes the envelope a little too far, especially with its designer pizzas topped with bizarre ingredient combos like the shrimp and goat cheese with raspberry vinaigrette spread. Stay on the safe side and order seared tuna with balsamic vinaigrette and cucumber casserole or grilled langoustines with olive oil, garlic, and fried parsley. For dessert, the crème brulee trio (orange, mint, vanilla) is a cooling surprise. Roots also offers weekly theme menus with Tex-Mex offerings and it has a long list of wines and exotic cocktails, both grossly overpriced.
