Description:
- These two trails begin at the base of Mount Evans Road (State Highway 5). One short tour can be made up the Mount Evans Road. The road is exposed to wind, so at most times only the first mile can be skied. The view from the second switchback is spectacular on a clear day. Another enjoyable 1.0 mile tour can be made around the back side of Echo Lake. This is an enjoyable area to explore. The beginning of the trail is 50 yards up the Mount Evans Highway on the right. The Echo Lake Trail is more sheltered from the wind than the Mount Evans Road. These two trails are both nice for the beginning cross-country skier.
