Description:

If you visit Idaho during the summer and find yourself with a free evening, see if you can get tickets to whatever is playing at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. A sister company with Great Lakes Theater Festival in Cleveland, ISF does five productions each summer in a beautiful outdoor setting along the Boise River.

Usually, ISF performs two or three Shakespearean plays, one musical, one or two non-Shakespearean plays, and the final show of the summer is often a small cast and small production.

Part of what makes this theater unique is its outdoor setting. Audiences come in their shorts, bring picnics, and hang out before and after the play. Green shows are performed by a hilarious duo of two local actors, who poke fun of local politicians, businesses, news stories, and each other. They also have been known to eat and drink items from the audience.

Because of Boise's dry summers, shows are rarely rained out, but it does happen on occasion, and the theater refunds rained out shows with tickets to another show.
