The town of Cascade is typical of many small mountain towns in Idaho, in that there is not much here in the way of shopping, restaurants, and other niceties. Lake Cascade is the main attraction here, and most visitors are campers and boaters, so they don't want fancy stuff.
The Ashely Inn, in Cascade, Idaho, offers a little touch of romance and luxury in the rugged mountains. Decorated in a Victorian style with lots of floral fabrics and lush furnishings, the Ashley Inn has 67 rooms and suites in various price ranges. Some have mountain views, others have in room hot tubs. Some have fireplaces.
Warm freshly baked cookies great guests each evening, and a lovely breakfast room looking out into the gardens is a few notches above the typical institutional motel breakfast rooms near airports.
The Ashley Inn is a popular setting for weddings. They also offer seasonal specials for Valentine's Day and other long weekend holidays.
Lake Cascade is across the road and through the trees, offering up recreational opportunities such as boating, fishing, swimming, and canoeing. Trails around the lake make for romantic strolls through mostly easy terrain. Winter time recreation in the area includes snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing, and downhill skiing in nearby McCall.
Gold Fork Hot Springs, just a few miles away, is set among the trees off the beaten path. Several pools have different temperatures. It's a great stop after a day of hiking or snowmobiling.
