NileGuide Expert tip:

Cafe Vicino is located across the parking lot from the Boise Co-op, and therefore has ample free parking. Not a great place for picky children. On a trip there with a six year old, a request for ketchup was met with the reply, "We don't have ketchup here."

Description:

Cafe Vicino is exactly what its name says--a neighborhood bistro. (Vicino (va-CHEE-no) is Italian for "neighborhood.") This is one of the best little places for a really nice lunch or for some wine after work. Cafe Vincino regularly wins awards and gets great reviews, and yet it is rarely crowded. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

For lunch recently, I had the chicken breast sandwich with gorgonzola and roasted red peppers on a rosemary-walnut roll with a bowl of apple mushroom soup that was incredible. Their soups are always filling and delicious.

Chefs Richard Langston and Steve Rhodes are local staples who are known for their culinary creativity. Their food changes with the seasons and is always interesting--in the best possible way.
