Ann Morrison Park - Idaho
  • Type: Picnics, Parks & Gardens
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

There is no roadway that goes through the park. Whichever entrance you come in, plan to go out the same way. Better yet, access the park by bike on the Boise River Greenbelt, or on foot.

  • Description:

    • Ann Morrison Park is one of Boise's jewels, a string of parks along the Boise River that runs through the city. The 153-acre park , named for the wife one of  Boise's icons of industry, Harry Morrison,  as in Morrison-Knudsen Company, opened in 1959.

Boiseans love their outdoor spaces, and this park is always teeming with people enjoying the diverse activities. Saturdays in the fall are busy with soccer games. In the summertime, a giant fountain is the perfect relief for the unrelenting heat. A large playground fits the bill for kids of all ages. Geese are everywhere, particularly the pond on the northwest end of the park, and people seem to love feeding them. The park also has tennis courts, horseshoe pits, a bocce court, a cricket pitch, a sand volleyball court, softball fields, and a disc golf course.

Along the Boise River, fishing is popular, as is rafting, and just plain splashing. Children should be supervised, as the river flows can be hazardous.

July 4th is one of the highlights of the summer, with a huge fireworks display at Ann Morrison Park, drawing thousands of spectators.

Picnic areas are available to reserve, or just throw a blanket on the grass. There's plenty of space for everyone.
