Follow signs, and keep dogs on leashes in designated areas. Mountain bikers are polite, but keep your eyes open as they appear out of nowhere.

Description:

289 acres just north of Boise, Hulls Gulch Preserve is popular with dog owners, hikers, mountain bikers, and families. Dozens of trails wind through the foothills, past ponds, among the sagebrush, and among wildlife, especially birds. Hulls Gulch is a tribute to the tenacity of citizens who would not allow developers to take over the Boise foothills. Through numerous grassroots efforts, the land was purchased over time to preserve habitat for wildlife like horned owls, foxes, and the cheerful red-winged blackbirds, as well as native vegetation. The Foothills Learning Center opened several years ago to help ensure that citizens of the future remember the importance of sustaining wild places.
