State of Idaho: Museum

  • Type: Museums
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

See pioneer buildings on the site.

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Plan your visit to include the Boise Art Museum and Zoo Boise, all located in Julia Davis Park.

    Description:

    • Idaho has a rich and lively history. The Native Americans of the area knew the places to find food, had gathering spots for negotiations among their tribes, and created fine crafts, such as baskets, and tools, such as spears. When Lewis and Clark made their epic journey across the continent, Idaho's Natives assisted them and taught them. Pioneers along the Oregon Trail passed through Idaho, and some stayed. Miners arrived to find silver, gold, and precious stones.

All of these people are represented in the Idaho Historical Museum, located in Julia Davis Park near the Boise River. The museum hosts hundreds of school children each year as they study Idaho history. But adults as well as children will marvel at the perseverance of the people who lived here hundreds of years ago.
