Three Island State Park

  • Type: Museums
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

    Living history

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

The state park has teepees that you can rent for an authentic experience.

    Description:

    • Three Island Crossing State Park is a living museum. It is the actual site where thousands of travelers on the Oregon Trail crossed the mighty Snake River. Many did not make it. Later on, a ferry was opened down river, today's Glenns Ferry.

Visitors to the park can camp, hike, fish, and visit the Oregon Trail History and Education Center, an interactive museum that includes Native American history as well as Oregon Trail exhibits. You can sit in a real covered wagon, decide how many pounds of side pork to buy, and hike the actual trail just like the pioneers.
