Wolf Education & Research Center

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Don't promise the kids they'll see wolves. They might not.

    Description:

    • The Wolf Education Research Center near Winchester, Idaho, is a remote, isolated place. Visitors park in a barely developed parking lot and hike about 1/4 mile to a visitor center. The small structure shows photos of the wolf pack that lives here, and an interpretive ranger is available to answer questions.

Whether or not you see wolves is entirely up to chance. You can walk along trails through meadows and forested areas. You can see where the old wolves from the pack are buried.

But this is not a zoo. Neither is it a national park. There is a fence around the large area, but the wolves roam free.
