- Pinyon Flat Campground is located on the edged of the Palm Desert and the Santa Rosa Wilderness, which is populated with bighorn sheep. At an elevation of 4,000 feet, temperatures during the summer season are quite hot. This campground is an excellent jumping off point for exploring the Santa Rosa Wilderness. The Pinyon Flat Campground offers potable drinking water, vault toilets and 25 campsites accommodating trailers up to 15 feet.
