With a privileged place on the Plaza de Armas, the El Dorado Plaza has filled a gaping hole in the Iquitos hotel scene -- the city never before had a bona fide high-end hotel. A modern high-rise building, with a soaring lobby, a good restaurant, and an excellent outdoor pool, this is clearly the finest hotel in town. Rooms are large and nicely outfitted, if not quite at the upper-echelon levels found in Lima or Cusco. Guests have a view of either the main square or the pool. The hotel has quickly become popular with foreigners who come to Iquitos for top-of-the-line jungle tours. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Easily the most expensive hotel in Iquitos. Everything is top flight and in Peru this is 5 star BUT....if you are going to Iquitos to see the jungle it seems like overkill to stay isolated...

Beware - on the 24/8 2012 we booked accommodation at this hotel for the purpose of going to the jungle. We were not permitted to take luggage to the jungle and the hotel staff promised...

A little luxury after a couple of weeks in the jungle.

The rooms are nothing really special but the beds are very comfortable and the shower had water pressure, a luxury in Iquitos. Breakfast buffet was very nice with very friendly service....
