User Review:
- La Casona is the most affordable hotel in Iquitos that provides all the necessities for a typical tourist. The rooms are comfortable and have air conditioning. The bathrooms are adequate and have hot water. It is really the energy and atmosphere of the common space that make La Casona such a wonderful spot. It is a haven for ayahuasca seekers and so conversation with the other guests is always full of amazing stories and interesting anecdotes about healing and the indigenous jungle cultures and traditions of healing. In addition to having a wonderful atmosphere, La Casona also has two kitchenettes available for use by all the guests, which makes for a home-style feeling, with guests often making meals and eating in the open air patio. They offer breakfast and great coffee as well, and have a little mini store for snacks and drinks near the front desk. The hotel also has backpacker accommodations for people on a tight budget, but most rooms are singles, double, matrimonials, and triples. Rooms usually have tables and chairs and adequate storage space. The staff at La Casona also makes the experience extra special. Most speak a little if not a lot of english and are always ready to help you with a smile. They do what they can to accommodate your desires, if that means staying a little later than check out time or checking in a little early or keeping your things safe for you while you're out in the jungle or recommending restaurants or showing you where the laundrimats or internet cafes are. The hotel does have wi-fi, although it is a bit slow, and a computer for public use with an internet connection. Really, the only thing missing at La Casona is a pool, but for the incredible price, La Casona is the best place in Iquitos to stay, even if you're not on a budget. It is located just 100 feet from the Plaza de Armas, 150 feet from Maria's Cafe, the best coffee in Iquitos, 300 feet from a great market, 250 feet from the only book store with books in english. 50 feet away from the hotel is a call center, 100 feet is the fastest internet cafe, and basically everything you need is within 100 yards of the hotel. I definitely recommend this hotel if you're going to Iquitos.
