- El Brasero is a new Rotisserie Chicken restaurant that opened in 2010. It is high quality food in a location that is off the beaten path. It is about six blocks from the Plaza de Armas, but just one block from the Plaza Sargento Lores. The main attraction, of course, is Rotisserie chicken, which they do marvelously, with a delicous, crispy skin and tender juicy meat, but they also have a wide selection of other meals, like steaks, sausage, and some great appetizers like guacamole and fried cheese filled nachos. It is a very large restaurant, so you have a much better chance of getting a table for a large group. There are two floors and on weekends, there is often live music upstairs as the night goes on. The service is prompt and attentive and the kitchen is very clean and well organized. I have been to this restaurant over a dozen times since it opened and I am always satisfied with the food and the service. While it may take a longer walk or a short taxi ride to get there, it is worth it, and it provides a good chance for tourists to see more of Iquitos. After dinner, you can take a one block walk to the nearby Plaza and stroll a plaza where there are no tourist or tourism. It is sometimes nice to see how the people live in Iquitos, free from tourists and tourism.
